Father, Veteran & Penn State Alum and fan. I got my first taste of providing patient care as a combat medic in the US Army enlisting while I was still a teenager. I later received my US Army Officer Commission through the ROTC program at Penn State University.
I served as a Medical Service Officer on active duty with the 101st Airborne Division, to include a deployment to Panama. I had numerous opportunities to provide or supervise patient care in settings ranging from front line Battalion Aide stations, field hospitals and later as a hospital administrator in a permanent Army hospital. After I transitioned out of the Army, I continued working in the health care field. For over a decade I marketed numerous medical products to include Alzheimer’s’ medications and Neurology specialty medicines. I enjoyed the collaborative process with health care providers in finding a cure or solutions for their patients’ ailments. I acquired a keen appreciation for the aging process and the challenges of providing medical care in the elderly population. On a personal level my own mother was severely handicapped due to polio, so I’ve always been around someone who needed care or assistance.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and I wanted to a marry that with my need for a sense of purpose and duty that I fulfilled during my military service. I witnessed my own disabled parents age gracefully and I shared their intense desire to remain independent and remain in their own home. So, in 2012 I dove into providing home care for elderly and disabled persons with a new ComForcare Home Care Franchise in Lancaster County. It’s been an equally rewarding as well as challenging experience. What I enjoy most is interacting with our clients and tailoring care to their specific needs.

I started in this field when I was 20 yrs old and I had no idea what caregiving was. My aunt ran a 10 bed assisted living. At the time I couldn't make sausages for the residents, distribute med's, give someone else a bath or anything related to caring for someone else or even that there was a need for it.
As the time went on I learned how to give meds, cook sausage, give a bath, laundry, housekeeping & the most important thing companion care. I became a CNA and worked for nursing homes but my calling was always helping the elderly on a more personal 1:1. Over the last 25 yrs I have kept those experiences with me raising 4 amazing children. I also have 2 blessings I call grand-kids. I came to Comforcare burned out in the Nursing Home environment & being underappreciated. Over the past 4 years I grew into the position I am today as the Director of Operations/Billing-Payroll, mentor, friend & co-worker. I hope I can continue to enrich the people that come in contact with me & live by the golden rule.

I have lived all over the country throughout my life and always consider Pennsylvania to be my home. My husband Nick and I have been married for 10 years and have two wonderful children together. We are animal lovers and have two German Shepard dogs, and two cats.
I have worked in the health care field for 11 years and love the ability to help people. Working in the field of Skilled Nursing as well as Home Care has helped me be present and more engaged with our clients as well as our caregivers. In 2020 I was given the opportunity to switch career paths and join the ComForCare team as an Admin Assistant/Human Resources. With my background in nursing I make it a personal goal to find loving, caring, and hardworking caregivers who will serve passionately and uphold ComForCare’s values with all of our clients and their families. Hello my name is Jocelyn Mendez. I am 26 years old, my nationality is Puerto Rican and Dominican. I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York but recently move to Lancaster for better opportunities. I have 8 siblings whom I love dearly.
On my free time i love to spend time with my family and catch on my shows such as Blue Bloods, HGTV, and Grey's Anatomy etc. I originally transitioned from being a security guard to a CNA at a nursing home, I later realized I wanted to be more one on one with clients. Comforcare Home Care was able to help me do exactly that. I am very loving, caring person and I serve passionately with a smile so our clients get the care and support they need. I feel strongly that every client’s dignity matters at all times.
